Cambusmore Estate: Where heritage meets progress, renewed by those who shape its future.
By those who care for the land, and those who find inspiration in its hills and shores. From long-time residents to new arrivals, life here is rooted in connection, purpose, and a shared love of place.his space is where we share stories from around the estate, updates on what we’ve been working on, and details of what’s coming up. It could be a restoration milestone, a new home for families to take root in, a local gathering, or everyday moments of Highland life.
Welcome. We’re glad you’re here.
Life at Cambusmore moves with the seasons. Steady, purposeful, and always with an eye to the future. Here’s a look at some of the work we’ve been carrying out across the estate, blending care for the land with a deep respect for heritage.
Rebuilding Stone Dyke Walls
These hand-built dry-stone walls are boundaries and part of the estate’s history and character. We carefully restored sections of dyke using traditional techniques, honouring the craftsmanship of those who built them, and helping preserve vital habitats for wildlife that shelter within their gaps.
Woodland Restoration
Our woodland restoration work is about nurturing resilience. We’re clearing invasive species, supporting natural regeneration, and planting native trees to ensure our forests remain healthy and vibrant for generations to come. Each action is taken with consideration for future generations to be able enjoy the estate in the same ways as generations gone by.
Peatland Restoration
Cambusmore’s peatlands are a vital carbon sink and a cornerstone of the Highland ecosystem. We’ve begun careful restoration to re-wet and rewild these fragile areas, helping to lock in carbon, support native plant life, and strengthen the land’s natural defences.
Property Renovations
Several buildings on the estate, from cottages to lodges have undergone thoughtful renovation, blending old with new. We’ve preserved original features while introducing sustainable materials and modern comforts, creating spaces that honour the past and serve today’s visitors and residents alike.
